About Follow your Moyo

The Follow Your Moyo trip

In 2022 we expressed our dream: travel on our beloved continent Africa for a longer time without a fixed schedule, but only a wish list of countries to visit. In 2026 we live this dream. Moyo, our Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ78 2001, is shipped to Cape Town. After flying in we travel South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and who knows other countries. We travel by ourselves but are open to join fellow travellers with 4×4 bakkies to routes we come by, especially when they are challenging.

Peter

I am an acupuncturist and Tai Chi Chuan teacher. Loving to travel, I travelled the world all over together with Désirée and our kids. I am very content with simple travel and enjoying wildlife and wild scenery. Camping is my preferred way of staying overnight.
A bullet list of destinations and attractions is not really my thing. Maybe we help out somewhere along the way.

Désirée

When Peter asked, ‘what is your dream for the coming years?’, my answer was obvious: ‘Travel slowly and freely through Africa in our own expedition camper!’ And so we started turning this dream into reality. After visiting Africa several times, I am still in love with its wildness and the sense of freedom it brings. I love being close to nature and living outdoors – so camping it is. At home, I work in education as a project manager.

Toyota Landcruiser HZJ78 2001 – Moyo

Moyo, our Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ78 2001 is technically prepared by Peter van de Warf [4WD techniek] and Rijk Verkerk [RV4WD Land Cruiser]. The interior and the sleeping roof was built and equipped by Paul van der Beek [PSP Expeditioncampers].

Moyo was shipped to Cape Town to AfricanOverlanders.com. The cruiser waited for us to fly in.
